Recreation Specialist

As a Recreation Specialist, you will be empowered to curate and lead engaging outdoor experiences, fostering a sense of community and adventure among service members and their families.

Recreation Specialists serve in key program areas (e.g., as specialists in charge of a recreation specialty or managers of major recreation facilities), which are designed to promote the physical, creative, and social development of participants. Specialists plan and carry out programs or activities that require knowledge of the theories and techniques of the field involved.

Recreation Specialists also evaluate the recreation needs of their community, taking active leadership roles in planning, organizing, advising on, and administering recreation activities and programs.

Recreation Specialist roles can be supervisory or non-supervisory and are graded as GS-07 and above or NF-03 through NF-04.
