Recreation Assistant

The role of a Recreation Assistant offers a dynamic opportunity to support the coordination and execution of various recreational programs, ensuring seamless and enjoyable experiences for all participants.

Recreation Assistants work under Recreation Specialist. They carry out a variety of assignments that require a practical knowledge of the recreation activities or programs to which they are assigned. They may lead or assist in planning, organizing, advising on, and administering recreation activities and programs. Recreation Assistants can be graded GS-04 through GS-06, or NF-02.



Example of duties

  • Guiding and supervising and /or instructing outdoor activities, trips & tours.
  • Demonstrating to patrons the use of equipment and techniques of various outdoor activities such as camping, swimming, and boating.
  • Setting up for outdoor recreation events, tournaments, and activities
    Inspecting outdoor recreation and facilities and equipment for security and general conditions.
  • Scheduling campsites, cabins, boats, and other outdoor recreation equipment and areas for use, with responsibility for seeing that they are vacated or returned in good order.
